Virserums Konsthall, Virserum, Sweden
The Virserums Konsthall has a 50-foot ceiling, which I incorporated into the exhibition with a cluster of 30 suspended foam chandeliers hung on hand-knotted ropes. I cast elaborate bundt cake molds in resin, hydrocal plaster, and various wax types, and then I decorated them with fanciful materials. These were displayed along with handcrafted pop culture sculptures of novelty desserts on a continuous curvilinear pedestal inspired by Borromini’s Baroque architectural facades. The exhibition included three media pieces animating the fanciful sculptures shown in the black box gallery.
