Being huge fans of the Jell-o ring, we were drawn immediately
to the work of Jennifer Vanderpool, whose oeuvre comprises
waxen Bundt cakes of crayon colours. Vanderpool draws on themes
of consumption on both the consumer and individual levels,
as well as one’s consumption by the endless domestic work
of our lives. Vanderpool also works with substances such as
jelly powder and candy for her site specific installations,
but it is the vast collection of rings and cakes that captivate
the most.
